Power BI to Trigger API Call

Hi All,

I have a need to create a simple dashboard/report that will contain 1 button that users will press to trigger an API call. This is done by simply hitting a url. I can link a URL to a button but it opens a separate web browser and launches the URL. Is it possible to hit the the URL without opening a browser?

My second thing is I'd like to have is a card/table that shows when and preferably who pressed the button last. Any links/ideas on how I'd achieve this would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Marcus

Probably embed a PowerApp in the PowerBI report. Use a Custom Connector or some similar method. Will require premium licencse for each user of the report/app...

Did you every manage to get this workign in anyway ? Im trying to do the same thing.

Hi @CareyM,

Unfortunately I never managed to get this to work.  I put it in the too hard basket and we went with a non Power BI solution.

Thanks,

Marcus

Hi,

Your demand is a good idea, while it is not supported to implement in Power BI Desktop currently. You can post your new idea https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas , to improve the Power BI Desktop.

It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.

Best Regards,

Amy

Hi Amy,

Thanks for your reply.

Does anyone know how to achieve the second part of my question?  I.e. a card that shows the time and if possible the name of the user that last pressed the button?

Thanks,

 Marcus
