I have a requirement to develop dashboard on customer banking transactions which has more than 450M transactions and nearly 200GB data. So, desinged dashboard in composite model of which imported customer data and connected with direct query on transaction data. Since in the first page user will be asked to select Branch and Customer ID, the query will be fired to database for transactions of that particular customer. Now everything works fine without roles and when I use Branch as role & view as role then Power BI is generating query without filter on Customer ID which makes it to bring data of all customers and end up throwing error.
I am analysing all this through Performance analyzer and it's completely strange that Dashboard works fine without roles and throws error when I use view as role.
@Anonymous why not do the aggregation and use import what you are showing on the first page. User-defined aggregations - Power BI | Microsoft Docs
