Hi guys, dunno if anyone has encountered the same issue like I do, my Power BI desktop crashes frequenty when changing the formatting of one column. Also I feel my PowerBI running not as stable as it used to be. Running into out of memory issues couple times but I'm pretty sure my laptop has enough memories.
Thanks
Hi @Anonymous ,
Based on my test, it worked fine when I changed format. I think it might be caused by the large dataset and complex calculation. You could reference the document: Power BI performance best practices to optimized your data model.
Best Regards,
Xue Ding

Hi Xue,
Thanks for your reply. I understand that you cannot repro it on your end. It is random to me as well, however I notice that the numbers of crashes pumped for the last couple months. It can crash on the format change, on importing data, on changing some options on the visuals.
I'm working on some new reports and also maintaining some same reports from previous months. I don't think I had that amount of crashes in the beginning of the year. My laptop has 16gb of ram and I don't think that's the issue.
Attahced is an error message just pops when I'm writing this post..
I have this report open and haven't done anything to it and all of sudden it throws me this message, and freezes after I clicked on Cancel so I have to force to kill it.
I have read through the best practice, but unfortunately it didn't help a lot.
Any feedbacks or suggestions would help.
Thanks!
