Power BI WaterFall Sort Order

I am having difficulty finding a way to have my Quarters showing in Order for this Waterfall Chart.

I created two Data Tables for my Category and Breakdown

I created a sort order and also linked that order to the measures.

For the life of me I can not figure out how to get the Qs to line up in order.

Anyhelp would be appreciated.

  • Hi Drisgoal

Please check this article about how to set up Waterfall Charts Waterfall Charts in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

You should set up your Date Table and use that to create/store your quarters.  And you should be plotting a measure/value on the chart x axis.  As it is you have non-related data (no table relationships) being plotted that have no numeric value, at least not the ones you want.

    Regards

Thank you for your attempted help but this does not help.

I have done everything that was stated in that article and this program will not sort by the Quarters.

I can not.  It appears that we are not able to sort the quarters in my Power BI file.

        Hello Drisgoal,
Sorry for the inconvenience, The Super User Ashish_Mathur is right the waterfall chart is currently blank because the underlying Excel table has no data at all for 2024 in the QoQ change column). The native Waterfall visual will not display anything if it doesn’t find any values to plot, even if the Breakdown table exists.

Once you add the 2024 numbers into the Excel table and refresh, the chart will appear immediately.

No I can not confirm since all the suggestions have not worked.  To be honest, I am very frustrated by Power BI and why something so that should be so easy is so difficult.  If you create a the same chart in Excel it works.... but not in power bi.
