Power BI Report - Date Hiearchy

Good afternoon I am hoping someone can please assist me.

I have connected an Excel Workbook to a Power BI report. In the Excel workbook there are 4 date columns. I am trying to create a slicer do they user can select the month (only) to display visual information. Regardless what I tried in the slicer its putting it in a hierarchy view. I have unclicked the Auto/Date Time for new files and have unticked the Auto date/time in the current file setting. I have spent hours on trying to fix this. Can someone please assist me because I am trying to show Executive Leaders this dashboard by the end of the week.,  Thanks so much!

Oh i get it, You will need to create a Date Table first and then have 1 active relationship and 3 inactive relationship. Additionally, you will need to create a measure that includes function - userelationship to the date table. The slicer while use the date column from the Date Table. If you can share the pbix file, i'll be able to help further.

Hi @Kaviraj11

Thank you so much for the guidance. I have no idea on how to do that so any advice would be helpful. Thank you again for the help.

Would you able to share the pbix file with sample data? I'll be more efficient that way.

Hi @Kaviraj11

Thanks for the info. I was able to create a date table and tried doing a relationship but I am sure I screwed it up. I have my data source table that has four dates. The dates in this table can be the same for different rows. I also have a date table that has date, month, year, and quarter. When I tried doing the relationships and when I got to the report the slicer does not seem to be working for all the months. Can you help me please?

Hi,

Make sure you have this option selected for the attribute put in slicer.

or just have the month selected under hierarchy
