Power BI Desktop: Unable to See Dimension Fields from SAP BW Connection

Hello,

I’m experiencing an issue while trying to import data from SAP BW into Power BI Desktop. Here are the details of the problem:

  1. SAP BW Connection: I successfully connect to SAP BW version 7.4 in import mode through Power BI and open the query without any errors.
  2. Numeric Fields: All numeric fields are visible in the query. However, dimension fields are not showing up.

  4. Adding Fields: When I try to add a dimension field, I don’t get an error, but I see the message "this table is empty."

  6. Query Model: The query model I’m connecting to is very simple, with no calculated fields, complex structures, or filters/variables.
  7. Authorization: I’ve verified that there’s no authorization issue, as I can access all fields in SAP using the same user (e.g., via the RSTS tool).

  9. Other Queries: I tested multiple queries, and the issue persists across all of them.

What could be causing this issue? Are there specific settings or configurations on the Power BI or SAP BW side that need to be adjusted? I’d appreciate any guidance or suggestions.

Thank you!

Hi @v-junyant-msft

Thanks for your response,

SAP .NET Connector and Power BI Desktop version are as follows. Both are the latest version. I cleared the cache in PBI desktop. But the problem still persists.

Hi @Eylul ,

What is your SAP .NET Connector version? Have you tried updating the SAP .NET Connector and Power BI Desktop versions to the latest versions and then try again? Older versions might have compatibility issues.
In addition, you can try clearing the cache of Power BI Desktop and then try connecting again to see if the problem is resolved.
