Power BI Desktop Technical Preview version : Find and Export function

Dears,

With the installation of Technical Preview Power BI Desktop X64 (PBIDesktopRS_x64.msi) version, cannot find the Export and Print function ?

But the blog claims those simple functions would be available.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55253

https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/sqlrsteamblog/2017/05/17/a-closer-look-at-power-bi-report-server/

Anyone know where to find the function in Power BI Desktop ?

Thanks

Andy Wong

Hi @andykmwong,

In Power BI desktop, it is not available to print report. But we are able to export report to CSV by clicking the elipsis (...)  in the top right corner of visualisations and click Export Data.

I assume that your Power BI Desktop Technical Preview version is Version 14.0.1.353, right? In this version, 'print' and 'export' are not supported functionality when opening a Power BI report on SSRS web portal.

Currently, Microsoft has released a new version which has added the 'Print' and 'Export' option. The blog you are referring to applies to this new version. You can find the print option from the file drop down list.

If you have updated to the latest version, but issue persists, please reboot your report server abd try again. Also, you can try to log in SSRS web portal with a different browser.

Hi Andy,

The PBI Desktop authoring tool does not contain print functionality and according to those blog posts it looks like in the early stages this will not be added to Desktop but will be added to the server side of "Power BI Report Server" which would make it the same as cloud service..

This means you cannot print directly from Power BI Desktop but you will be able to print from the web portal on the report server.

You can export to CSV in desktop by clicking the elipsis (...)  in the top right corner of visualisations and click Export Data

Cheers

Greg

Hi Greg,

With the Power BI technical preview (Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 14.0.1.353 ) also cannot find the print and export function in the web portal.

p.s. Not the Power BI web services portal since this technical preview is on-premises environment using SSRS V.14.0.1.353 anc this month becomes Power BI Server.

Thanks!
