Hi, PBI Experts!
I met situation when after updated to new March 2021 release from October 2020 (that works fine) of Power BI Desktop.
Installation process finished successfully.
But soon after launching updated application, RAM consumed started growing rapidly without any reason.
Eventually it simply doesn't open, and PC is going to reboot.
I use Windows 10 pro, but the same issue already met with Windows Server 2016 = one server works fine, another one has RAM overloading and consumpition of 30 Gb of free RAM soon after launching a new (no data) empty model => only reset process helps to stop RAM madness.
May be somebody had met familiar issues with RAM consumption earlier? Pls advice any ideas how to fix it ?

The problem was connected with AntiVirus activity. AntiVirus was stopped for a while and new release has been successfully launched.

Hi, @ryatatu
To deal with the RAM overload in the Power Bi desktop, we usually use the direct query mode to connect to the data source instead of the import mode. And using the M-query in the Power query to replace the calculated columns in DAX to transform the data is also a good way to avoid the RAM overload.
According to my research, it’s supported to install the 64 Bit Power BI Desktop with 32 Bit Office.

However, if your computer system is 32-bit, you should go to the PBI download center to download the 32-bit of PBIDesktopSetup.exe to make sure it can run smoothly.
Thank you very much!

HI Robert
thks for your advice.
Currentrly it doesn't help to solve the problem.
We tried to install 32-bit & 64 bit, different languages of PBI.
the issue happens not during open of the existing file.
But instead when click icon PBI desktop, and application is running.
Instead of opening window with PBI tools, vizualizations and so on we get the situation of a high consumtion RAM memory that ends with rebooting of machine becase of lack of free RAM,
PBI app takes it all free 5 Gb on local machine, in case of windows server 2016 it takes 30 - 40 Gb of RAM without real opening.

Hi, @ryatatu
Have you tried to completely uninstall the Power BI desktop client from your computer and install it again to check if the problem can be prevented?
If it’s not helpful, you can submit a new idea in the Power BI issue forum so that our members will determine if it’s an issue that really exists.
Thank you very much!

what tool do you recommend for this ? i tried to uninstall from windows itself = using uninstall windows app and programs.
may be it's better to use some other tool to delete PBI completely from Windows Registry ?

if my Computer uses 32-bit office
may it conflict with 64-bit PBI desktop April release?
