Helper IPower BI Desktop Needs a Check For Updates Feature
With as frequeant as this product chnages there really should be a "Check For Updates" option that handles in place updates of Power BI. This is not something revolutionary, the inexpensive text editor app I use has had this for years and it see far fewer updates than Power BI Desktop.

For different download methods, the update method of Powerbi Desktp is different. If you download it from the Microsoft App Store, once the Power BI team provides a new update, the application will automatically be updated to the latest version. If it is downloaded from the official website, it needs to be updated manually.

edcarden How have you installed Power BI Desktop? It should tell you when an update is needed, and if you download through the store they'll come through automatically. https://radacad.com/power-bi-desktop-download-or-microsoft-store-app-which-one

edcarden - did this solve your problem? Keen to hear over the coming months if you have more success using the Microsoft store and if not, what roadblocks or problems you're facing so we can feed this back to the product team and so I can improve how I teach students to do this process too.
