Power BI Desktop (2.76.5678.782) - CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess error

Hi all,

When installing newest version of Power BI Desktop to Windows Server 2016, installation went thru without any issues, Desktop starts normally, but after I exit or close desktop ,I got following error  "CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess has stopped working , close program" , seems that error not exist every time.

Have anyone faced similar issues? Or have any Idea which could cause this?

After installation I also noticed from system requirements that Server 2016 isn't mentioned as supported OS

Supported Operating Systems

Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2

Microsoft Power BI Desktop requires Internet Explorer 10 or greater.
Microsoft Power BI Desktop is available for 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) platforms.

Is server 2016 supported or could this OS version cause this kind of behavior

    Hi jniem ,

Looks like you're using the latest version of Power BI Desktop in Microsoft store. According to what you said, there was an old version on the system, please make sure the old version and root has been completely removed before installing the latest version.

Otherwise, please try downloading the latest version from web (It's out of sync with the store version).

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=45331.

BTW, please update your OS just in case.

If the issue still exists, please consider to create a support ticket for further analysis.

    Best Regards,

    Jay
