I was attempting to utilize the connection string that Excel makes when using the Power BI add-on to connect to a datasource on the Power BI Service. I have not had any luck but thought I was close until I received a "AAD Credentials" type error.
My goal is to be able to connect to a published data source and publish a new report to a different workspace. I understand this is a limitation that has been documented here:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-report-lifecycle-datasets
However, this doesn't make a lot of sense to me. In my organization we created workspaces to represent different divisions (Marketing, Puchasing, Sales, etc.). Some of these groups share the same data, but with this set up we are stuck duplicating data sources. Is anyone else stuck in a similar position? Any suggestions?
Hi @Cfarinha,
However, this doesn't make a lot of sense to me. In my organization we created workspaces to represent different divisions (Marketing, Puchasing, Sales, etc.). I'm wondering if you could firstly download the pbix file copy of the report from one workspace on Power BI service. And then reuse the data sources, make new reports, and finally republish the modified pbix to the other groups/workspaces in your scenario.
Regards
