Pop-up from Map Bubble

Hi, I have create a pop-up window with a rectable with some cards for data.  No big deal there.  Is there a way to launch the pop-up from simply clicking on the map bubble?  I created a button to open up the pop-up with the detail of the bubble but I was looking to remove the button from the mix and have the pop-up open up immediately when selecting the bubble.

Thanks for any insight.

  • Power BI Desktop does not have a built-in way to trigger a pop-up just by clicking a map bubble. A bubble click only cross-filters other visuals, so any bookmark or button action still needs its own separate click.

The closest built-in alternative that removes the button is a Report Page Tooltip. Design a page laid out with your cards, mark it in Page settings as a Tooltip page, then on the map visual go to Format > Tooltips, set Type to Report page and pick the tooltip page. Hovering a bubble will now show it automatically, filtered to that bubble.

Note that this is hover triggered rather than click triggered, and the tooltip page is usually smaller than a full modal, so you may need to redesign the layout.

If this helped, please mark it as the accepted solution and give it a kudos.

The map bubble in Power BI only makes a data‑selection and cannot open a popup on click, and the simple way is to place ur cards on a report‑page tooltip and select that page in the map’s Tooltip settings so the details appear when you hover.
