Hi All,
I am trying to plot the frequency of the occurence of events over time, such that the x-axis is the date, and the y-axis has the categories of events e.g. sale/refund/discount applied/etc, with the values for occurence effectively being binary - either it occurred or it didnt, with the occurence of an event on a date represented by a dot on the graph where these axes intersect.
I have tried to achieve this using a scatter plot in PowerBI, however I am having difficulty with the constraints around numerical data being required.
I have mocked up the graph as best I can in excel below. It effectively conveys what I am trying to construct, however the x-axis would show the categories such as sale/refund/discount applied/etc rather than the number range 1-6 that is actually shown.

@Giles99 You can get close with an Area chart:
But still need to convert the type to a numeric value and then do a bit of magic with the area chart formatting: https://excelwithallison.blogspot.com/2021/09/visual-review-area-chart.html
Otherwise you could build your own visual using Charticulator or Deneb, or there may be something close in the marketplace already?
See the attached pbix under signature and let me know if you have any questions on what formatting I changed.
