Plot multiple quarterly data
I'm trying to make a simple chart of sales per quarter, but over a three year period, not just quarters aggregated. This is very easy in Tableau (pictured). I'm just getting years OR quarters.
Can someone point me to how I can do this? Thanks.

It is as easy as Tableau in PowerBI as long as you know how to do it. When you put your Date field in the Axis, Right Click and select Date Hierarchy. Select Quarters from the list.

When you drag the date field to the chart, It will create the drill down action, which wil show you the drill down to the quarters level as well.

Thanks very much. When I do that it only shows data for quarters aggregated (Q1 sales from 2014, 2015, and 2016 summed). How do I show quarterly data for all years? I know I am missing something simple.

Putting a year and Quarters to the axis field can generate the expected output

Where's the feature request? I would like to upvote it. Dates in PowerBI are so poorly handled - why would anyone want to combine data for quarters across different years? Who even thought this was a good idea? Looks like we need to invest a few hours of training to get PowerBI to stop doing it's default stupid aggregation.
