Parameter Text box

Hi,

I am not sure if it is possible or there is a round about way. I am looking for suggestions. I want to create a parameter text box kind interface where user can enter the value such as target or date and data gets displayed accordingly. let me know if you havent understood my question i can explain more.

thank you

There is no easy, convinient way of doing it specially in the service.

There are some workarounds but depends which client tool users access the data.

For the PowerBI service this post from Chris Webb is really cool - http://blog.crossjoin.co.uk/2015/11/24/using-parameter-tables-to-control-data-refresh-in-power-bi/

For excel I wrote something similar with macros & linked tables

Hi,

5 years after, I want to know if there is a better way to do this and to add some 'parameter' or variables in a text box, something more dynamic ?

Thank you,

Loveboch

@vickyprudhvi Parameters are not yet supported in Power BI as in SSRS reporting. You can always drag your Target Date field to page level filter section and apply advance filters as shown in pic below. Hope this helps !
