Hi there,
Does anybody know how template files (PBIT) work when it comes to privacy?
I have changed the settings to ignore like in the image below, but I still get the privacy level pop up and then have to constantly refresh to get it to load along with the "Query references other queries or steps, so it may not not directly access a data source" error.
Hi @lherbert501 ,
Could you tell me if your problem has been solved? If it is, kindly Accept it as the solution. More people will benefit from it. Or if you are still confused about it, please feel free to let me know.

Hi @lherbert501 ,
This can have several problems behind, check the documentation below with information about possible errors and examples:
Dealing with errors - Power Query | Microsoft Docs
Behind the scenes of the Data Privacy Firewall - Power Query | Microsoft Docs
Solved: references other queries or steps, so it may not d... - Microsoft Fabric Community
In addition to this, can you try changing the privacy level of all your data sources to "Organizational" or "Public".

Hi @lherbert501 - Managing privacy levels in Power BI, especially when working with template files, requires careful configuration of data source settings and understanding how queries reference each other.
By setting privacy levels explicitly, enabling fast combine, and using the latest version of Power BI,
you can minimize privacy-related issues and ensure a smooth experience with template files.

Hi @rajendraongole1 ,
Many thanks for the reply. I think this is the problem I seem to be having though, as I have done the usual change from combine to ignore in the options.
I then have set them all to public the data sources in the query editor.
I export this to PBIT and it brings up the option to ignore both sources which I check, and then gives me all of the errors which I have to refresh.
Thanks
Liam
