Organizational Data Types in Excel Now Missing

I've created a 'featured' table in Power BI Desktop and uploaded to the website.
In Excel, I would be able to highlight my field and use organizational data type to select different attributes on that field.
As of today, my organizational data type is no longer working. Its been working for over a year now and today it stopped.
I checked the PBI report with the featured table and found nothing wrong.
Any idea why this feature just stopped working? Was actually demonstrating this feature in Excel just last week and now its gone.
Agree. Magically my Organization Data Types began working today as well.

This is a known issue identified internally by the Product Group team, currently they are working on a solution that may be released by the end of the next week, around sept 27th, please wait after that date to test, if the issue persist, please create a support ticket to investigate further.
Having the same issue. Is the solution related to excel update? I am currently on Excel Version 2408 Build 16.0.17928.20114
I noticed it is not working from 17 Sep 2024 about the same time as Microsoft 365 update on my pc.
Hi Ritaf1983 , we are also experiencing this issue. The first user reported it on Monday September 16th. If you connect to the Power BI dataset in excel, you can insert a pivot table and see the data, however, using the exact same result will not be recognized when choosing the data type. I also tried excel for the web to see if it would work there but the result was the same.

Can you please share a pbix or some dummy data that keep the raw data structure with expected results? It should help us clarify your scenario and test to coding formula.

Nothing really to share. I had a very simple table setup exclusively for a Organizational Datatype that I've been using for over a year. Now without warning, it no longer works. Other data types are not working either.
Wondering if this is a Microsoft issue and will just magically work again in a day or two.
Thanks for the reply. Was hoping it was not limited to my experiencing. Lets me know it isn't related on my end. Hopefully Microsoft resolves this soon.

Happening in our tenant as well, 1st noticed by our users yesterday.
Having the same issue, just wanted to add, that the funtionality dissappeared 12th Sep 2024, on 13th it was suddenly working and after the weekend 14/15 Sep it stopped again. It is not the first time that we have problems, but last time the Organziational Data type disappeared completely in the Excel Ribbon. Now it still exists but there is no data pull or info querying to PBI any longer. The Excel "Data Selector" justs says "No results found for .....".
To test if it is a problem with the data I have set up a new featured table with one row and 4 columns , text only. It also failed
It is frustrating, that this feature is not reliable.
It lacks also some control, there is no error messaging. The usage to see the acceptance or to identify the impaced users cannot be seen.
everromanr , we are seeing this issue again starting in the last day or 2. Is it possible the fix that was released in September was reverted?
For our setup it disappeared as well, this time the complete Data Type doesn't show up any more in excel.
Last time it was showing but not querying any data.
Nothing was changed, and data had been refreshed this morning and are available in PBI.A day after my message, the custom data type is showing up today. Good to know that my organization is not the only one having this recurring problem. It proves that the problem is not within the organization's setup.
Happening in our tenant as well, worked yesterday when I checked. Today no longer working again, 3rd time in a year for us. Outage span has always been anywhere from 2-4 days. Same as Stefan_Volz reported, custom Data types not showing up at all in Excel, and nothing changed on our side.
Yes. I am seeing the same thing in excel now. The custom organizational data types are missing. Its frustrating as my end users come to me for help, but I cannot do nothing about this. End users will simply learn not to rely on this feature.

Today the organzational data types work in our environment suddenly again. Unfortunately it is not clear, if anything was done in PBI or if it works because something else changed.

Today I see again issue with data types in excel. It suddenly disapeared today (yesterday I got update of MS Office 365).
Organization Data Types are missing only in Excel App version and still working on Excel Online.
The functionality stopped in our Organization on 16. June 2025 again. In the desktop version the Organizational Type is showing up, but doesn't retrieve any values. In 365 Web version it is working! I am not aware on any changes in our organizational setup. All users are concerned.
I noticed this as well yesterday. My concern is that this feature may no longer be featured as a PBI Pro License user.
