Open web URL in specific Browser

Hi all,

In my Report I have a Table with a column containing the string of an URL.

I've categorized this column as Web URL and the result works as expected - clicking on the URL, respectively on the icon, the link is opened.

Unfortunately I need to open the URL in a specific browser. For this case I found this article (https://www.itworld.com/article/3008858/how-to-open-specific-web-browsers-using-hyperlinks.html) providing a solution, which works fine, but not for PowerBI.

In the article, the author states, that building the URL like

<a href = "microsoft-edge:http://google.com"> link </a>

will open the URL in MS EDGE. Working fine for HTML documents.

Adjusting my string in the PowerQuery editor with the prefix microsoft-edge: unfortunately results in the situation that Power BI cannot interpret this string as Web URL and therefore does not provide the link any longer.

Same result, if I build the HTML frame (<a href = "....) around my URL.

My question to the community now is, if there is a possibility to have a working URL string in Power BI to be opened by a specific browser.

I have no influence on the settings of each report consumers machine, so defining MS EDGE as standard browser will not make it for me.

I am looking forward to your replies.

I'm afraid to tell you that this is currently is not possible with PowerBI.

You have certain limitations like

"The URLS must start with http:// , https:// or www."

and therefore you won't get this working.
