Hi everyone,
I am facing some issues with the "Analyse in Excel" button. I want to download a .odc file to update an Excel file but everytime I go on Reports and click on "Anlyse in Excel", Power BI automatically dowloads a .xlsx file which is not useful for my purpose.
According to what I read around I should automatically get a .odc file instead of an excel one. I have PowerBI PRO, so this should not be the problem.
Any idea why it is doing this? How should I solve it?
Thank you all in advance.

Hi, @Anonymous
I test it in my powerbi service and I also get excel files.
I check the latest document .
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-analyze-in-excel
It mentioned that the Power BI service will create an Excel file of the dataset that's designed (and structured) for use with Analyze in Excel, and begins a download process in your browser.
It may be a recently updated feature.

Hi everyone, I found my solution here:
The odc is in the excel file and can be extracted as shown in the link. 🙂

Oh dammit, this is a real problem.
Any suggestion on how can I use the .xlsx file as Data source for another excel instead of using the .odc? @v-easonf-msft
Hi, @Anonymous
It is recommended to create a support ticket to get further help.

I know something about how to use the .odc file as Data source for another excel ,but I don't have much experience in .xlsx file .

@Anonymous not sure what you mean download excel file? Are you getting excel file with the data or it is a pivot table?

It is an empty pivot table. Instead of having a whatever .xlsx file I would need a .odc file.
@Anonymous it does download the odc file, you can check in the connection properties where the odc file is but it will show you pivot table using that odc file. In my case, it was downloaded in my download folder.
I would ❤ Kudos if my solution helped. 👉 If you can spend time posting the question, you can also make efforts to give Kudos whoever helped to solve your problem. It is a token of appreciation!

It does not download a .odc. I only get an excel file.
Clicking on "Analyse in Excel" I should get a .odc link, which I do not get
After you download the xlsx file, go to the Data ribbon, click on Queries & Connections, the RIGHT mouse click on the connection and choose PROPERTIES. Then click on the Definition tab and click on the EXPORT CONNCTION FILE button. That will generate the ODC file for you.
