Just try this option,It works fine for me.
- Open these reports in pervious version and save as .pbit file
- and then reopen pbit files in the newer version and save .pbix file.
I dont know the exact solution for this issue, the above solution working fine

Hello,
Did you get this problem solved?
I have a similar issue with all my reports that are connected to power bi service data sets.
If I start from blank with PBI desktop everything is fine. BUT when I for example download pbix file from service and try to open it with PBI desktop I get he same error message "No session exists for database with ID: xxxxxxx".The desktop doesn't open at all because of that error and therefore I'm not able to clear permissions from that file.

This happened to me when downloading from the service. If this is the case then you can create a copy of the report in the service and download it.
