Newbie with a dumb question about field name changes in Excel

I changed a column heading in excel and I want it to be reflected in my dashboard.  When I try to import the data, I get an error that the column with the original name wasn't found and the load fails.  I tried renaming the field on the Fields pane and that didn't help.  I also deleted the field with the old name in the Fields pane, but that may have made things worse.  HELP!

Hi @Anonymous ,

According to your description, here's my solution.

1. Rename the column in Desktop Fields.

2.In Power Query, in the Changed Type step, directly change the column name in the formula.

I did that but it didn't solve the problem.  Ended up blowing the whole thing up by mistake.  Not much work lost though.  Today was my first attempt.  I'll start from scratch in the morning.  Thanks for the help.

You need to go into the query editor.  There is probably a couple of steps in there that are looking for the old column.

You just need to change the column name the step is looking for to match the new one.
