Netezza connection

Hi,

   I am new to Power BI and I am trying to connect to Netezza server.  When I select Get Data->IBM Netezza, entered server and database names (Import) and then ok'ed, I get the error below.

"Unable to connect

We encountered an error while trying to connect.

Details: "ODBC:ERROR[08S01][Microsoft][Netezza](1001)

Communication link with server failed."

Note:  I am able to connect to a different server (Oracle).  

Any ideas on what I am missing?  If you need more information, please let me know.

Hi @gbag3,

1. Please use other Netezza client tool to connect to the same Netezza server to see if the issue happens on Netezza server side. 

2. Is the Power BI desktop installed on the machine from the Netezza server? If it is, check if those two machine can communicate each other. If possible, please install the Power BI desktop on the same machine which has Netezza runs, and get data again to see if the same issue happens. 

3.  Please try to run the latest desktop version 2.48.4792.481 64-bit (July 2017).

Hi @v-qiuyu-msft,

    Thank you for your response.  I updated my Power BI to the lates version (July 2017) but still will not work (same error message).  Netezza server - I have to get in contact with our Netezza administrator.  

Question:

1.  "Please use other Netezza client tool to connect to the same Netezza server to see if the issue happens on Netezza server side. " 

     - Do I need a Netezza driver? If so, what is the link to download it?  My laptop runs on Windows 7.
