Need help creating visual grouping in Matrix chart
I;m trying to group my Accounts into categories (see excel sheet below to get general idea of goal). I've tried to create a category column in the data input, but then it just sums the totals by cate...

I would do the following:
- Make sure you're using the matrix visual (looks like you're using a standard table?)
- Add the "category" column as a row in the matrix
- Add the "accounts" column as the second row in the matrix (under "category")
- Add your measure/value to the "Values" are of the matrix chart
- Expand out the "category" column using the "+" signs next to each category in the actual visual
- Switch off "row subtotals" in the visual format settings for the matrix chart
This should get you close if I understand your problem. As a quick note, providing a sample file or at least some data helps with troubleshooting - makes it much easier to understand the issue and communciate about a solution.

This was it! I was using a company template so it had the +/- icons turned off which is why I reached a standstill. Now that I've found that setting everything else falls into place. Much appreciated, will try to include files in the future.
