Hi,
I am struggling with a scenario that involves RLS with a single select slicer.
Let's say I have a dataset that has Company 1 and Company 2. Vehicle A belongs to Company 1 and Vehicle B belongs to Company 2.
I have RLS set up in the report. There is a single select slicer for the vehicle. It is set to Vehicle A in desktop. The issue that I run into is that no matter which company loads the report, the vehicle that will initially load into the vehicle slicer will be Vehicle A. Even if Company 2 loads the report, they will see Vehicle A initially in the slicer bc that's what was in the desktop when it was published.
Company 2 will of course not see any of the data associated with Vehicle A, as that data is filtered out by RLS and the visuals will be blank. The visuals will not populate anything until the Company 2 user changes the slicer selection from Vehicle A to Vehicle B. So there is of course no data security issue here.
However, this is not the desired UX. Ideally, the report will load with the first vehicle that belongs to whatever company loads the report. So, in the case of Company 2, Vehicle B will be populating the slicer when the report loads and not Vehicle A.
Does anyone know if this is possible? Or will the value in the single select slicer that's in the desktop always initially load into the report, regardless of RLS?

Correct, RLS is incompatible with single select slicers.
A workaround would be to add a Vehicle C that is not covered by either company, and make that the default selection.
Thanks. On some other reports, I just create a '----' selection that I use as default. Not the desired load experience that the stakeholders are looking for, but better than loading with another company's vehicle in the selection...

Hi,
Are there any updates regarding this problem?
Not that I'm aware of. I believe you can now have a single select slicer set to 'All'. So that might help on some cases, but certainly not all.
