Need Help with PowerBI and Maps
I wanted to ask if there is a way to extract the map referenced here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/desktop-shape-map. The district map. I was asked to create a map in Power BI just like this one but when I download the file it has all this extra information and I just want to have the map so I can link it to my actual data.
Basically I was asked to create a map that when people register my conference it will highlight the district they are from. I am hoping to use a SPO list where I have everyone already registered and their profile already have their district but i need the district map with those boundaries for all the federal district courts. I did something similar with Tableau but not sure how to do it with PowerBI

It looks like the reason you're not seeing the map settings (Shape section) is because the Shape Map visual might not be enabled yet.
In Power BI, Shape Map is still a preview feature, so you need to turn it on manually:
Go to File → Options and settings → Options
Click on Preview features
Enable Shape map visual
Restart Power BI Desktop
After that, add the Shape Map visual again to your report. You should then see the Shape option (where you can upload the TopoJSON file) in the Format pane. Also, just double-check that you're using the Shape Map visual and not the regular Map or Filled Map they look similar but have different settings.
From your screenshot, it seems like only general formatting options are showing, which usually happens when the feature isn’t enabled or the wrong visual is selected.
