Hello everyone,

I have Power BI Desktop installed from the Microsoft Store.
After updating to the September 2025 version, the connection to MySQL Server stopped working.

When I try to create a new connection from scratch, I get the following message:
"This connector requires one or more additional components to be installed before it can be used."

I have already installed the latest MySQL Connector/NET (version 9.4.0).

Has anyone experienced this? Is there a workaround or fix for this issue?

deinstall 9.4.0 and install 8.0.28

Likely causes and a quick fix:

1. You’re using the Microsoft Store (MSIX) build. Some DB connectors (incl. MySQL) can fail there. Install the standard MSI (x64) Power BI Desktop from powerbi.microsoft.com, not the Store version.

2. Connector version mismatch. Power BI’s “MySQL database” connector targets MySQL Connector/NET 8.0 (x64). Connector/NET 9.x often isn’t recognized. Uninstall 9.x, install 8.0.x (x64), then reboot.

3. Bitness mismatch. Ensure Power BI Desktop is 64-bit and the MySQL driver is 64-bit.

If you can’t change Desktop, use the ODBC route:
• Install “MySQL ODBC 8.0 Unicode Driver” (x64).
• In Power BI, use Get Data > ODBC and pick the DSN (or “Advanced options” with a connection string).

After changing drivers, fully restart Power BI (or Windows).
