MySQL Connection Issue

I have been unable to connect to MySQL database(Version 8.0.36)

from Power BI Desktop (Version 2.131.1203.0 64-bit (July 2024))

I see several contributors to this forum have managed to connect PBI to MySQL database by trial and error choice of Connector, but the variety of MySQL Connectors I have tried all give the same message: ‘This connector requires one or more components to be installed before it can be used’

Can anyone identify the version of Connector that would be compatible with my versions of Database and PBI? Or could there be another cause of this Issue?

Hello,

I manged to resolve this by installing  MySQL Connector/NET ( under Archived Versions) 8.0.32. Then just restart Power BI, and reconnect again. Let me know how it goes!

Hi @PaulSB ,

Based on the description, try to check if install the Oracle MySQL connector package prior to using the connector in power bi deksktop.

Thanks Wisdom Wu, I followed your advice, but the PowerShell response was very different. Does the attached screenshot provide any helpful information, that might provide a clue to how I can resolve my impasse?

@PaulSB Difficult to be certain but I would try the latest release (9.0.0) or 8.1.0. MySQL :: Download MySQL Connector/NET (Archived Versions)

I am having similar issues

I am on Mysql 8.2.0

I am connecting to this DB from power bi desktop using my sql connector .  PBI version is Version: 2.136.1478.0 64-bit (September 2024)

I downloaded the latest version of connector Connector/NET 9.1.0, restarted the power BI but it would not connect .

Shall i try the prev version of the connector instead of latest version?
