Multiple Line chart with Current year Forecast

Hi Team,

I'm trying to achieve a multiple line chart where lines showing sales for different years by month (Jan-Dec on X'axis).

The requestor also wants to see forecast for the current year that is Aug - Dec 2020. But i dont see forecast option in analytics pane.

Can any one guide me how i can achieve forecast for rest of the year 2020 in the below chart?

Hi @LP2803 ,

You could try to reference the blogs to calculate forecast values by yourself.

@LP2803 ,

Try to use the date for that, It will give you a forecast option. Or try month-year as a single line

Hi @LP2803 ,

At present, you can't have forecast for different categories in Power BI.

If you remove categories, you'll be able to view the forecast options in Analytics pane. That is, Date in Axis, Total sales in values and nothing in Legend.

So basically you can forecast total sales but can't specifically forecast totals sales for 2020.

You can submit this as an idea though so that this can be probably resolved in future.

Give a thumbs up if this post helped you in any way and mark this post as solution if it solved your query !!!

@LP2803 - You may not have enough data points for the analytics pane to appear. Also, the analytics pane is fairly particular overall. It doesn't tend to like categorical axis and it tends to want to appear when you have actual dates in your axis versus text for example.
