Hi,
I am exploring Direct Query at the moment. The question I want to ask is which option would be better:
1. Put model in Power BI and connect it with Direct Query to SQL Server 2016.
2. Put model in SASS Tabular and connect it with Direct Query to SQL Server 2016, then use PBI only as a Presentation layer.
If anyone could tell me what are the benefits of one over the other, it would be great.
Best regards,
Vasil
Hi,
The data source is SQL server 2016. My question was if I should model the data in PBI or in SSAS and what are the benefits of each option.
Hi @Anonymous,
I have updated my reply above.

Hi @Anonymous,
Per my knowledge, method 1 that establish live connection to SQL Server directly from Power BI might be better. It could load data faster than using method 2.

Hi,
Thank you for the response. In the end I will have to test it.

Vasil
