Missing Trend line in visualization

It's a late reply to your question I know - but I have a minute spare 🙂

You make a very good point and yes we could use those other lines in our charts, but.... the trend line is a function in Power Bi that can be used by developers - but it disappears from selection and it is this that we are hoping to get resolved.

For example it will appear only if you choose the right graph type and even then it can disappear again if changing the formatting within the chart... very frustrating for the many of us wanting to use this feature easily without having to build in overlays etc... or as you say use a different line for the same purpose..

For others veiwing this thread who maybe dont understand why what you've said is correct:

Trend lines are often used to represent the "behavior" of the values being used to look for a pattern. 

I would argue that for large data-sets where outliers are prevellant and can't be removed that the use of Averages is very misleading... Median in those instances would be best and I find is most accurate most of the time... but yes either would show a trend.. Min and Max would indeed also show trends over a period of time... 

Hopefully one day Microsoft will fix the "trend line" option for us wanting to make use of it more wihtout overlays or using features meant for other purposes... 🙂
