Missing DataModel in pbix file

Hello,

I'm having some trouble understanding why when I download some reports, the DataModel is included and sometimes not in the pbix file.

Here's how to reproduce the problem:

1. Create a report with Powerbi desktop and publish it

2. Create another report on the powerbi website

3. Download both report as a pbix file (open the report on powerbi website, File > Download as .pbix)

4. When you unzip both pbix file or open them in powerbi desktop, the DataModel part is missing only for the pbix coming from step 1

Is there an option I need to activate on the desktop app? Or is it something on the website?

Best regards

Hi  @wazaza  ,

Is it related to your pbix connection method? After the pbix file of import and direct query is decompressed, there is datamodel, but the pbix file of Live connection does not have datamode after decompression.

Best Regards,

Liu Yang

It's not related.

Do you know any other reasons why a pbix file would or would not contain the data model?

It's downloading as a pbix just fine.

I don't have powerbi desktop installed right now so instead of opening the pbix with the software, I'm unzipping the file to check the content.
