Missing Connectors

Hi all,

In my old pc I had the Power BI Desktop download by Microsoft Store and I had all the connectors. In my new pc I downloaded the Power BI Desktop from Microsoft Store as well and missing Connectors like Dataflows under Fabric, Azure Databricks etc.

I search all the settings in both Power BI Desktop apps are the same.

New PC Version: 2.139.2054.0 64-bit (Ιανουάριος 2025)

Old PC Version: 2.139.1733.0 64-bit (Ιανουάριος 2025)

How can I fix it?

If I download the Power BI from elsewhere will it take automatically the monthly updates?

Thank you in advance,

Eleftheria

Hi all,

Till now, I have uninstall the app from Microsoft Store and Install the app from official site and didn't work (I tried and the January 2025 & August 2024 versions).

The App Locker checked by the developer and he didn't find any issue. The firewall is clean as in my old work laptop everything is ok. The problem is in my new laptop.

Is anything from laptop setup that is blocking the connectors? In the CertifiedExtensions folder I have them all (compared old and new laptop and they are identical).

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance,

Eleftheria

Thanks for the reply from nilendraFabric , please allow me to add some more information:
Hi  @elia22gr ,

As far as I know, Power BI Desktop downloaded from the official website link does not support automatic updates, and getting an update in Power BI Desktop will only require you to manually go to the official website link and download the latest version again to overwrite the old one.

When the Power BI Desktop Store app is updated, it is pushed down and updates the installed Power BI Desktop apps without any end-user interaction. In addition, it does not require any administrative privileges to perform the update, so downloading Power BI Desktop from the Microsoft Store will automatically update it.

You can try using the msiexec.exe file to create an automatic installation by executing the uninstall/install from the command line:

You are missing Azure Databricks in Power BI Desktop , you can try the following steps:

Check if the Azure Databricks connector is missing because the firewall is blocking unallowed domains:

PowerBi Desktop App missing databricks connector - Microsoft Fabric Community

To enable Azure Databricks as a source Go to --> File--> options and settings --> global--> security--> data extentions.
Check the - Allow any extentions to load without validation or warning.

I knew the same thing about the 2 ways of Power BI Desktop installation. And as it is my work pc and I dont have admin rights to install, I prefered the Microsoft store. Regarding the missing connector, probably has to do with the app locker. I will let to know when the check from the app locker developer ends.

Thank you!

Hello @elia22gr

try this:

  1. Uninstall the current Power BI Desktop from your new PC.
  2. Download and install Power BI Desktop directly from the official Microsoft website https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=58494. This version is more reliable for ensuring all connectors are available.
  3. After installation, launch Power BI Desktop and check if the missing connectors are now present

    Thanks

By the way in the official page the version is the same as the one that I have in my new pc

Version: 2.139.2054.0 64-bit (Ιανουάριος 2025)

Hi @nilendraFabric thank you for your prompt reply.

I will try it. If I download it from there will still take the monthly releases or I need to download them every month?

Thank you in advance,

Eleftheria

If you download Power BI Desktop from the official Microsoft website, you will still receive monthly updates, but you'll need to take some additional steps to ensure you're always using the latest version
