Microsoft Gantt Milestone issue

Hello guys!

I'm building a Gantt graph using the Microsoft Gantt 2.2.3 version from the app store. In this case I have the data for the Gantt in 2 different tables:

A projects table and a Checkpoints (Milestones) table.

The projects table contains, between other fields, the name and the start and due dates. The same goes for the Milestone table that also have a parent column that relates to a project (both tables have a current relation set up in power BI). An example of the data stored in the tables will be something like this:

Project ID  Project Title   Start date     Due Date        Completion
1                  Test 1          10/1/2022   12/15/2022         3%
2                  Test 2          10/6/2022   12/18/2022         1%

CP ID    CP Title      Start date       Parent
32        CP Test 1    11/2/2022          1
33        CP Test 2    11/7/2022          2

I'm able to create the gantt chart with no problem using the Project table information, as you can see in the following:

However I can't add the milestones from the Milestones table. No matter the field I choose from the Milestone table, the graph simply goes nuts when I add any data to the graph Milestone field. Can you guys please help me to sort this out? I think I have check all the posts about Milestones issues but no one seems to be like mine.

PD: I like for the Milestones to be on top of the bars.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Try this steps-

Create a milestone with zero duration
The quickest way to create a milestone is to add a task with no duration to your project plan.

Click View, and then in the Task Views group, click Gantt Chart.

Task Views group on the View tab.

Type the milestone name in the first empty row or pick a task you want to turn into a milestone.

Type 0 in the Duration field, and then press Enter.

The milestone symbol is now part of your Gantt Chart.

Add a milestone with a duration
Sometimes a milestone takes time. For example, the approval process at the end of a phase might take a week, so that milestone would need to take place over time like a normal task.

Click View, and then in the Task Views group, click Gantt Chart.

Task Views group on the View tab.

Type the milestone name in the first empty row or pick a task you want to turn into a milestone.

Select the milestone, and then click Task. In the Properties group, click Task Information.

Click the Advanced tab, and then type the milestone duration in the Duration box.

Check Mark task as milestone, and then click OK.

On the Gantt Chart, the milestone symbol appears on the last day of the task. It doesn’t appear as a bar, even though it has duration.

    Add an external milestone
Sometimes you might need a milestone to track a task that’s outside the scope of your project.

If the milestone depends on a project that is beyond your control, such as software that is being developed by another company, create a milestone using the steps in the previous section. You’ll have to keep an eye on the external task and update it manually.

If the milestone is part of a project in your organization, you can track it with a cross-project link.

    This may help you,

    Hi rachelgomez1234

Thank you for you reply. I'm sorry but I'm kinda lost with your answer, where in the graph options in Power BI do I find the steps that you mention? Could you please add some screen captures for it.
