Merging Columns in Data Source

I am using a web data source for power BI (an API from our organizations database) and when it imports to PowerBI is columns are merged. Then when I try to expand the columns it's only giving me one of the columns that was merged (there's only 1 column option and the name is "Element:Text"). How do I either stop it from merging when importing the data or expand the columns so I'm getting all the actual columns.

what's the output format of that API, JSON?

see if you can force it to output JSON instead (Header accept = application/json).

Can you post sample data?
