Hey!
I recently followed the advice someone gave that worked on adding a column based on another columnn in another table by merging queries (see that post here https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Desktop/Relate-Tables-Function-Without-Need-for-A-Sum/m-p/...
Now that new column shows up in the power query editor, but it does not show up in the data tab (column is there, but cells are empty) and if used in a visual, it shows up, but as empty (not null, completely empty).
I have tried refreshing, restarting Power BI, restarting my computer, making sure my Power BI was up to dat (Aug 2023) and more. I cannot figure out what to do. Can someone help? I've been at this for hours and am slowly losing my sanity. Screenshots attached. First photo: Screenshot of my data tab. Second photo: Screenshot of what I see if I add it to a simple table visual as a column. Third photo is what I see in power query editor (showing it is there).
Did you ever figure this one out? The same thing is happening with me and it's driving me nuts. The data shows up perfectly in power query, then all values show up as blank after I apply the changes. I've confirmed that the merge fields are identical in name and type and confirmed that the data is refreshed.
I'm not sure if it's the fact that some of the values are null, but I can't understand why the values that are present are not showing up.
Hi @W2SANC ,
You can try clicking the refresh button in Desktop to refresh. Sometimes the data may not be loaded successfully, and it will be displayed after you manually refresh all of them.
If the refresh operation above didn't work, will data be displayed successfully in the Data tab of Power BI Desktop before Merge Queries? If you're not sure, you can remove the steps for Merge Queries under Applied Steps in Power Query Editor and then click "Close&Apply" to Power BI Desktop for checking.
Best Regards,
Stephen Tao

Additional information: Backing up to the step where I merged to get the FIPS code added to the main sales table - screenshot is below. Is how I expanded the column (where cells all say "table") what I am doing wrong?
First photo: what is seen after the merge. Second photo: what the options are when I click expand.
@W2SANC , I doubt your join column values are not matching. can you check that
Can you share sample data and sample output in table format? Or a sample pbix after removing sensitive data.
Truly new novice/beginner here, what do you mean by "check that" and I can make up a few small data point shortly in the next reply.
