Matrix Visual Hierarchy Level Problem
Hi anilelmastasi,
Thank you for the follow-up question.
Especially with the number of reports and pages you’re managing. In Power BI, visuals do not automatically get “repaired” after updates because each visual maintains its own internal state and configuration. When a change or inconsistency like this happens, it unfortunately does not get retroactively applied to existing visuals which is why newly created Matrix visuals behave correctly while older ones don’t.
Now, there isn’t a built-in way to bulk fix or automatically update all affected visuals across reports. Recreating or replacing the Matrix visual is still the most reliable approach. To reduce effort, you might consider updating only the most frequently used reports first and reusing a corrected Matrix visual (copy-paste) across pages where possible, rather than rebuilding each one from scratch.
Hope that clarifies. Let us know if you have any doubts regarding this. We will be happy to help.Thank you for using the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Hi anilelmastasi,
Just wanted to follow up. If the shared guidance worked for you, that’s wonderful hopefully it also helps others looking for similar answers. If there’s anything else you'd like to explore or clarify, don’t hesitate to reach out.Thank you.
Hi anilelmastasi,
Thanks for the clarification. Also, thanks to krishnakanth240, Odet_Maimoni, for those inputs on this thread
Since the issue only affects older Matrix visuals and works fine when recreated, it doesn’t appear to be related to your hierarchy or measures. This is likely due to older visuals retaining an inconsistent drill state after updates, which causes the “Go to next level” button to stay disabled. Recreating the visual resets this state and resolves the issue. You can try resetting the drill state (expand all levels or toggle drill mode), but this may not consistently work.
Currently, rebuilding the affected visuals is the most reliable fix. Similar behavior has also been reported in the Fabric community where the drill button becomes greyed out and rebuilding the visual resolves it:

This appears to be a limitation with older visuals rather than anything specific to your setup.
Hope that clarifies. Let us know if you have any doubts regarding this. We will be happy to help.

Hello v-kpoloju-msft ,
Thanks for your message. Shouldn't it fix default by Microsoft? Because in our tenant, I use Matrix with hierarchy more than 30+ Report and 90 Pages. I talked with my BI friends and they direct me the same error, it will take much time.
Best regards
