Matrix Table Time Buckets

I'm working on an app to measure out On-Time Operations.  I have everything mostly working the way I woudl like but I'm trying to improve the user interaction.  In the below pictures I have a Matrix.  My column feilds are Calendar Date, Week of Year and Month Number.  I can change how the Matrix summarizes using the "Drill on Columns" selector.  This will change the date from Daily buckets to weekly buckets to monthly buckets.  Ultimately i would like the user not to have to go through this button to change the date buckets.  I am showing a chiclet slicer at the top that has the different bucket sizes.  I would like the user to be able to select the slicer button to change the buckets.  I have tried multiple things to replicate what the "Drill on Columns"  selction is doing but I have not found a solution that works properly.  Any advise on where to start with this.

My date table has week, month and year already available so I was hoping to use that information to change the buckets.

1 ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hi @shippen70 ,

For now, it is the best workaround for Matrix to drill down based on bookmarks and buttons. If you could change other visuals,  you could reference the blog to create a new table as a slicer to drill down/up based on it.

Thanks for the reply @amitchandak. I see what he is doing but I'm not sure this accomplishes what I'm asking.  If I change my slicer to "Daily" it should pull a list of all the days inside the filter date range and add the values below.  If I choose "Weekly" it should be a list of the weeks in the date filter summarized by the week and so one.  If I'm missing the concept please help me understand.  Thanks

One solution I have found is to use Bookmarks and have multiple Matrix Tables.  I replaced the Slicer with Buttons, when I click on a button it shows the Matrix associated to that button and hides the others.  I can move back and forth between the Matrix by selecting a different button.  This approach works but it seems like a work around.  I will not have to manage the settings on 4 Matrix Tables rather than a single.  Thoughts on the ramifications of this approach?
