Hello Everyone,
I am developing a report which it's data source will be in excel format. This excel data is sourced as an export from an enterprise application (there is no oppurtunity to source the data directly from the application). An updated data source will be provided monthly. Could I please ask for 'best practice' advice on the following:
1. What is the best approach to updating the original excel data source with the new copy, so it does not impact the feed into the power bi report?
2. If I wanted to trace the changes in the data to provide 'trends' analysis' overtime, how would I go about this?
- Will I need to create a new table to capture dates of when each report has been incorporated to track date changes to the data?
- Will I need to bring in each report as a seperate query to capture the trends?
Thankyou in advance for your advice?
Hello @AMBP1973 ,
You could have them added to the main excek so you could have data on a monthly basis, and you couls work normally with power bi.

Hello @Idrisshatila. THankyou for your response. How would I add the latest excel to the existing excel? How would I be able to enable tracking of changes to capture trends between the updated reports?
Thankyou
