Hello Power BI gurus,
Apologies if this is already answsered but I couldn't find the specific issue I'm having.
I have a table with geographic locations (country, province, city, zip code, address and even latitude and longitude). All my data is for Spain.
If I use a simple hierarchy: Country / Province / City, at the first level looks correct:
If I expand to the next level (preserving the previous level), all still looks right:
But then, if I expand the next level which is City, now I see locations outside the corresponding country and I can't figure out why and how to fix it.
For example, that location that displays over Venezuela, corresponds to a city in Spain.
What am I missing on this scenario?
For ambiguous locations (there are probably hundreds of "Pueblo Blanco" in the world) you need to help the geocoders by indicating the category of each of your fields.
For good measure, add an ISO country code column to your data.
Hello @lbendlin, if you take a look at the screenshots, you can see that the Country (Pais), Province and City are part of the hierarchy and should be preserved while you drill-down.
This does not happen with the regular map visual but looks like the Azure Map has some kind of bug that causes the hierarchy selection not being preserved.
I know I'm doing it correctly because it works on the regular Map visual but on Azure Maps does not work.
Have you specified the category for your columns as I suggested?
Yes. All columns are categorized to their respective data type (country, city, address, postal code...).
Can you post a sample file?
If you are unsure how to do that please refer to https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-provide-sample-data-in-the-Power-BI-...
Here's a sample file where you can see the issue.
I added just two maps: the regular default map, and an Azure Map with excatly the same hierarchy.
When you get to "City", you'll see that on the left (the regular map), the bubbles are placed correctly, while in the right (the Azure Map) it omits the previous levels.
When you get to "City", you'll see that on the left (the regular map), the bubbles are placed correctly,
Not really, you still have misplaced locations in the US and Latin America.
