Hi,
I have the below Line chart.
I would like the X-Axis ordered by dd-mmm with the earliest date being left and the latest date being to the right. In the above visual it isn't like this. I have set the visual to sort by the X-Axis value. As a result you can see the ordering is by the day (dd). What I require is for the 29-Apr to be far left and the 22-Jul to be far right, and all ordered in between.
I have created the below DATE table.
Using the above SortBy column I was hoping the ordering would be correct.
1) I click on the Month and Year Day and Month field, in the fields pane, and then choose 'Sort by Column' in the Modeling ribbon, then choose the SortBy field. The Line Chart doesn't re-order how I hoped.
2) I then click on the ellipsis on the actual Line Chart visual and the options I have to sort by are the Month and Year Day and Month field or the field used for the values. I could not see an option to see the sort by the SortBy field.
The Day and Month column is a Text column.
The SortBy column is a Whole Number column.
How can I sort by the order I wish?
Thanks.
@Anonymous
You need to use Day and Month column intead of Month and Year in step 1.
@v-chuncz-msft My mistake, and a crucial one. Where I mention Month and Year, I meant Day and Month. I have amended this now in the OP. All steps tried was using Day and Month.
When attempting Step 1. I get the below message.
