Hi all,
I’m here to gather some ideas from all the geniuses here.
I have a line chart with 12 months of data, but one month contains an extremely sharp spike that makes it hard to see the overall trend across the other months.
This issue persists whether I use a line chart or a bar chart—unless I enable a zoom function.
Using a data hierarchy doesn’t help either, since the sharp spike occurs within a single day, and that’s already the smallest time unit in my data.
The spike and the monthly averages come from two different data sources, so technically I can separate them into two graphs. However, I’m unsure how to display both the overall trend and the peak at the same time in a way that’s easy to understand.
I’ve considered using a secondary axis to represent the spike, but I’m worried that might confuse viewers who aren’t familiar with dual-axis charts.
If anyone has encountered a similar issue or has any suggestions, I’d really appreciate your insights!
