Labels on Maps

Hi,

I'm just starting out with Power BI and it looks very powerful, but I've been playing for a while and have now got stuck on one problem.

I've got a list of Accounts coming into PowerBI from Dynamics CRM, and I've managed to successfully plot them on a map by simply adding the Address to the Location field on a Map visualisation, however when you hover over a data point on a map you just get "Address1_Composite 123 Fake Street, Pretend Town, CA, USA" on the pop-up.

What I'd like to do is also have the Account Name shown as well, does anyone know if this is possible?

I tried adding the name field to the Location field however this doesn't work, neither does adding the name to the Legend field.

If I change the visualisation type to Table, I get the right data, a list of addresses with corresponding addresses e.g

Address1_Composite                                          Name

123 Fake Street, Pretend Town, CA, USA          ABC Corp

I've attached a picture to better explain what I'm talking about.

I've tried making my own composite column with "ABC Corp, 123 Fake Street, Pretend Town, CA, USA" however that didn't work either.

Is what I'm after possible or do I need to be looking at a GIS package to make this happen?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Cheers,

Chris

Use Lat-Lon to plot the geographic location and you can use an arbitrary field, with whatever information you want in it) as the value in the Location section of the visualization.

You cannot arbitrarily structure the tooltip, though. You have to work within the structure of the visualization.

If you need to, you could make your own custom map visualization that allows customizing the tooltip information.

Hi,

I have an additional question about labeling on maps...

I have 3 values for 24 countries, the year the data was recorded, (02-15), and the index for each country.

I am wondering if I can make it so that by color, I can have...

<50 Red

50-55 Yellow

55+ Green.

all on the map at one time. So, for example, the US would have a green bubble, Canada a yellow bubble, and Mexico a red bubble. (this averages indicate consumer sentiment for one year).

I see I can only change the color for the year...

Also wondering if I can easily switch between looking in the past year, past 6 months, and past month. So far I can only do this for years by filtering the years.

Hope I was descriptive enough!

Thank you!

Thanks!

That works great, now I just need to figure out how to populate the Latitute & Longitute fields in the CRM!

Cheers,

Chris
