Keep visual selections when publishing
I have a dashboard with a heatmat (shape map visual) of PA by county (see below)
When I publish this to a workspace for embedding in a webpage, I want Centre county to be highlighted, like below.
I know that if I use a slicer to make this selection, the slicer will be preserved when published, but that gives me the image below, which is not what I want.
Is there any way to retain the visual selection when publishing, or alternatively is there a way to have the slicer highlight rather than filter the visual? I have tried using edit interactions, but it only gives me filter or no interaction and have not been able to find anything else to try through google.
Thanks
hello ChrisMarini
you need to tick "Make default view" on in personal bookmark workspace or else it will show your visual without the saved selection.
Thank you.

hello ChrisMarini
i assumed the other value will be greyed out (not the slicer selection that will remove all not selected value).
if you save your pbix while that value being selected, the selection will be preserved in published version similar to slicer selection that you mentioned above.
Thank you.

I am not certain I understand. If you are suggesting to make the selection in the visual, then save with the selection made, I have tried that. When the file is reopened or published, it opens with no selection made. It saves slicer selections but not selections made in visuals.

Hello ChrisMarini
if that does not work, i think you can do with bookmark.
here is an example.
- create a bookmark and update with the desired visualization.
- publish it, then in workspace, go to edit.
- go to bookmark pane at view in above ribbon. then go to personal bookmark.
- in personal bookmark, add bookmark then tick make default view.
this should save the bookmark as default when opening the report page.
Hope this will help.
Thank you.
