Hi,
I am connected to a database that refreshes every 24hrs. The database does not store historical data when it refreshes and only cares about the status quo. I need to keep the historical data in my power bi model. Is it any way to keep the historical data i.e tag each refresh with a date while allowing for new data to come in?
I haven't been able to find anything on this topic.
Thank you!
While I don't think this is possible in Power BI, there are other tools that can do the 'snapshot' for you.
I've run into a similar scenario where I only get a dump of a file 2x a month. I basically created my own table in a DB to run a SSIS append query, simply adding a date field. That table is then my data source for Power BI. Best of luck.
To my knowledge this is not possible. Power BI is a data exploration/visualization tool. "Snapshotting' must be done in the source system.
