KPI Target causing blanks

Hi all,

New to Power BI and am having some issues getting the KPI visual to work.  Something is happening when I try to add in the Target value that is distorting the visual.  

DAX measures:

NNS = SUM('NNS Raw Data'[NNS])

Previous Year NNS =

CALCULATE([NNS],

DATEADD('Monthly Calendar'[Date],

-12,

MONTH

))

With no Target in the visual, everything looks good.  The trend line is coming in and the current month sales are showing

But once I add in previous year and the target, the main value shows as (Blank), and then the Goal shows what should be the Main Value, the previous year sales are not 5.45m that is the current year.  Any suggestions?

what about add a slicer and select the lastest year to have a try?

I added a slicer with the latest year selected, but it is still coming up as blank
