Join and Filter Dimension Table

New to PowerBI but couldn't find an answer to this. I have a simple model: a sales fact table joined to a master calendar table by invoice date. I am filtering the fact table to only get 2017 invoices but the calendar still returns rows for every day of all years. How do I get the calendar to respect the date filter I placed on the fact table?

  • Can you share what visual you have on your report? Make sure X axis type is set to categorical instead of continuous? I hope this will fix it, if not then please share the screen shot.

Also can you tell how your tables are related, and what is relationship direction, single or both.

      Thanks,

You could add a slicer in your report. If you create table visuals for both calendar and fact table, it will slice all visuals based on the selection.
