Issue with the date dimension table on slicer

Hi,

I tried to create a date dimension table for my time intelligence function to work on the actual data table. I put that date dimension, i created, on slicer and it comes up with the blank value on the slicer and don't know why it comes up blank. As i click on that blank value it shows the other related visuals correctly, but when i choose any years in the date dimension on that slicer the other visuals comes up blank, while as it should be other way around.

Can someone help me with this please?

Hi,

I am not sure how your datamodel looks like, but by seeing the screenshot above, the slicer has year 2017. However, I think the fact table has year 2018 ~ 2020. If there are values that does not in the dim-calendar table, the blank is shown in the slicer. Please try to create a dim-calendar table (slicer) with having year 2018 ~ 2020 as well.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

Let me tell you the whole story. First of all, i appended 3 tables together and it became my fact table and there is no other dimension table. In this appended fact table i have a column as "A" which has just 3 years in it as 2018, 2019, 2020 and have another column as "B" which has each candidate's ID numbers in it and then it has another column as "Last_NOtification_Date" which has randomn dates like 02/01/2017, 03/09/2017, 08/12/2018, 17/11/2019, 25/03/2020 so on and so forth.

Now i want to create time intelligence function, so that i can count the number of candidates ID's from column "B" and compare the difference in counting from year 2018 to 2019 and then to 2020  which years show in column "A".

I tried to create the Date dimension table consisting dates from 01/01/2017 till 31/12/2022 and related that with the "Last_NOtification_Date" column in the fact table, but when i put that date dimension table in slicer it shows blank value as well and clicking on blank value shows the visual i already had created, but when i click on any year in date dimension in slicer the other visual i already had created just disappears as i showed in the last message.

Being new to Power BI, i, firstly, would like to ask if i can create the time intelligence on counting the number of ID's . Secondly, i would like to know why is this issue coming up with the blank value showing up in the slicer for the Date dimension table.

Hope i could be explain it properly and some help on it will be much appreciated.

Thanks & regards

Sam
