Is this possible? A hypothetical example on Filtering down on notes

Let's make this real simple. let's assume I have a table with two fields. The first field is Sales Rep. Let's say there are two sales rep currently in the table: Ted and Sarah. The second field is a notes field. This field has multiple notes about each rep. Let's pretend that there are 10 notes for Ted and 10 for Sarah. So there are 20 records in this table, with Ted and tanya repeated 10 times each for each note.

What is the cleanest way to have a simple table/matrix where I have Sarah and Ted listed/grouped, but I can click or filter down on their name to show all notes associated with each?  I also want to be able to sort by their name easily.

This has stumped me. I cannot get tooltips for filtering to work on a simple table. And I also appear to have to bring in a "count" on the matrix visualization and right click on that to "See Records." What's more, the sorting isn't right anymore when I bring a count into the matrix view. There has to be a better way, no?

Have you tried drill-through? That should accomplish this functionality.

I feel like I have tried everything. Below is what I'm seeing. I tried using "Drillthrough filters" and it just doesn't seem to work.

If I use a matrix and count the notes, I can do a "See Records" upon right click of the count, but I don't want to have to do that. One reason is because the sorting of the rows when you use a count becomes seemingly impossible.
