Is there a way to have the distinct counts automatically adjust to filters that are applied?

We have a formula measure field with the following distinct count formula in it:

Work Order Count (Calc) = IF(HASONEVALUE(Query1[Work Order]),MAX([Work Order]),COUNTROWS(DISTINCT(ALL('Query1'[Work Order])))&""). This works but the issue is that the results don't auto adjust when a filter is applied to the report. Is there a way to have the distinct counts automatically adjust to filters that are applied to the report?

@krichmond Try using ALLSELECTED instead of ALL or perhaps ALLEXCEPT

DAX is easy, CALCULATE makes DAX hard...

@Greg_Deckler - I tried the "ALLSELECTED" approach and it didn't work. The distinct count still stays the same even with a filter applied. The "ALL EXCEPT" generated an error.
