Is there a way to expand the legend "area" while keeping visualization plot stable?

On occassion I have a legend with really long labels. And I currently cannot find a way to expand just the legend area, while keeping the plot area stable (without growing along with it). It would be awesome to be able to expand the legend area independently of the plot area and vice versa.

 

(If this is currently possible and I've just missed it, let me know that as well.)

Wrong forum for this question, and no. Currently only the whole visual can be resized, no way to alter only the legend area.
